I don’t hear this phrase a lot, instead, I see it a lot. A whole lot. Believers getting tired of the growth journey because they don’t “see growth”.

When growth is not meant to be seen but to be entered into.
Praying becomes tough. Fasting is almost out of the picture. Praying for others is not even in the picture anymore.
The things of the spirit feel so dry, like God is so far away. What you used to do for God that usually excites you now feels like work. It’s become hard to follow God.
“I expected it to be hard, but not this hard.”
The number of times you’ve thought this in your head starts nearing countless.
Let me tell you this:
It is supposed to be hard!
Following God is supposed to be hard.
You’re literally at war with the devil and his demons every single minute of the day. Do you think they’ll let you off easy?
Heck no!
It’s a battle for life and death. You win, you experience eternal life, and they can’t take you with them to experience eternal separation from God.
They win, and they drag you into their space where you’ll also experience eternal separation from God.
So yes, it is supposed to be hard because it’s that serious.
But God isn’t calling you to be perfect. He just wants you to lean on Him completely. That’s all He wants from you. A total reliance.

He knows the battle against the enemy is hard. He knows just doing life by yourself will have you losing the battle, and that’s why He said what He said in Deuteronomy 31:8;
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (NIV)
So, ask Him for strength now that you are weak because it is what He would want you to do.
It’s not a weakness to ask for help. And more, asking for help from God.
Ask Him for the strength to persevere in these times when everything about Him feels like work.
It is an opportunity to prove to yourself and to show the devil that you’re serious about following God for the rest of your life.
You will fall now and then, but never remain on the ground.
Refuse to remain on the ground, and instead, allow Jesus to pick you up.
See, I used allow, because it has to be your consent too.
Isn’t God wonderful?..
God is wonderful.
He gives us so much freewill.
